When Phil stayed at Ronald McDonald House in Newcastle in 2008, he didn’t know that 5 years later he would be living in Newcastle and volunteering for the charity. His son, Adrian had been born 12 weeks prematurely and the House was a saviour Phil and his wife Nat.
“When we moved from Mudgee to Swansea in 2014, it gave me the opportunity to give something back, just like those volunteers had done for us in 2008,” said Phil.
Phil is now a familiar face around the house as a regular overnight volunteer and even volunteers on our Ride for Sick Kids. He is a wonderful support and mentor for families, particularly young dads, who find themselves enduring the stress of having a very sick child in hospital.
