Greater Charitable Foundation have committed to a two year partnership with us and will be contributing significant funding to support our Learning Program. Thanks to their generous support we will be able to provide hundreds of students the opportunity to catch up on their missed education due to serious illness or injury.
“The Foundation is proud to be partnering with Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW on the delivery of its customised Learning Program. This program particularly appealed to the Foundation given its capacity to improve the educational outcomes for children with serious illnesses and injuries who have missed learning opportunities due to treatment and hospitalisation. We look forward to playing a part in their learning recovery.” Says Anne Long, CEO, Greater Charitable Foundation.
Students like Kiara, who was 8 when she was diagnosed with a serious infection in her scalp and underwent surgery 5 times within 5 days and a year later had a skin graft done on her scalp.
Kiara missed out on a lot, she stopped school, sport and the normal things an 8 year old girl would do. She risked falling behind in her education and being disconnected from her peers.
Through the Learning Program Kiara has been able to keep up-to-date with her school work with a one on one tutoring program designed specifically for her. It is part of a bigger picture of recovery that will ensure Kiara every success for the future.
“A term off school could really set a child back. The Ronald McDonald Learning Program has been a huge help and relief. It eases the stress and takes the pressure off me having to be the educator all the time. We are very thankful for it.”
