Makaya-Leigh in the Family Room at Gosford Hospital
On a recent visit to the Family Room in Gosford, Makaya-Leigh’s mum, Amy, felt very supported and appreciated the opportunity to take a break from her daughter's hospital bedside. She was able to grab a cuppa and enjoy the company of the friendly and caring Volunteers.
Amy had been told about the Family Room by a family friend who had recently used the room when her child was sick. So, when her eight year old daughter Makaya-Leigh was admitted to Gosford Hospital, she took the opportunity to make use of the Family Room herself.
“It has been great to be able to catch up with our other family members in a quiet and comfortable environment, away from the Children’s Ward”.
Makaya-Leigh was born with a rare congenital disorder which causes problems for some of her major organs and is no stranger to hospital visits. But now, knowing about the Family Room, their visits to Gosford Hospital will be that much more comfortable with a home-like space in the hospital to escape to.
