Little superhero, Max, spent 9 days in Hospital just before Christmas. Doctors worked hard to figure out what caused a very large Lymph node swelling in his neck and how to treat it.

"On my first night in Hospital, the nurses told me to take a break in the Family Room. The young Volunteer, Kate, made me a sandwich, had a chat and we even had some laughs" said Etha, Max's mum.

During their stay, Max and Etha were regular visitors to the Family Room. Etha tells us that the Family Room ‘saved her from her own head.’ It was a  ‘place to relax and get out of the stuffy ward and there is always someone to talk to and understand.’

Max enjoyed his time in the Family Room too. While no-one wants to be in Hospital around Christmas, he was cheered up by the number of wonderful people who came and visited the children in Hospital over the season. He was even lucky enough to get some Christmas presents, including an awesome new Nerf Gun from the team at Mass Nutrition Umina/Charmhaven.

Max was able to go home 3 days before Christmas. Even though the Family Room helps keep families together while their child is sick or injured, home is a much better place to be at Christmas.
